CEDC Team Attends Four-Day Economic Development Course at UNC Chapel Hill
Two of our team members, Page Castrodale and Shanell Varner, attended the International Economic Development Council's accredited Basic Economic Development course last week at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Government.
This four-day course was a comprehensive educational experience that integrated theoretical and practical perspectives, and provided over 80 industry professionals with the foundation they needed to organize, plan, and implement economic development programs.
Page and Shanell had the opportunity to meet and hear from some of the premier industry leaders on trends, strategies, and the core tools of the trade. Topics that were discussed included strategic planning for economic development, entrepreneurship and business creation, business retention and expansion, financing economic development projects, real estate development and reuse, community development, workforce development, business attraction, and managing economic development organizations.
