NC Food Innovation Lab to Offer Array of Services to Plant-Based Food Innovators

The N.C. Food Innovation Lab (NCFIL) is set to open in the David H. Murdock Core Laboratory in Kannapolis, NC later this year. It will bring together the latest in food processing equipment, expert food scientists and partners from across the state to help food companies and entrepreneurs get their products to market quickly and effectively. The facility will offer product research and development services, pilot plant production, training and workshops, and food industry consulting in its 16,000 sq. ft. plant-based food processing facility at the N.C. Research Campus.

NCFIL will be the region's only FDA-inspected food manufacturing pilot plant. It will offer space for brainstorming, testing formulas, processing ingredients and more. The facility will supply the equipment needed to create a variety of both novel and traditional plant-based food items.
