Farmington Project Underway in Harrisburg
On October 25, Cabarrus Economic Development staff attended the groundbreaking ceremony for Farmington Ridge Parkway and the Farmington development project in Harrisburg. Set to open in 2020, Farmington is a master planned community comprised of entertainment, retail, medical/office and institutional uses. It will appeal to a broad range of service providers and employers that are looking to capture the underserved Harrisburg market, which has grown substantially in the past 10 years, and is expected to increase by 63% in the next 10 years (Farmington, MPV Properties).
Highlights:
- Theater-anchored entertainment and service-oriented Village Center
- Extensive greenway walking and bike trails
- Frontage and connectivity to I-485, Rocky River Road and Caldwell Road
The Village Center at Farmington will become the gateway of the Rocky River Road corridor into Harrisburg, providing retail and entertainment to the growing community outside of Charlotte, NC. The project will create new jobs, new opportunities, and an increased quality of life for residents.
Also attending the ceremony was Mike Downs (Cabarrus County Manager), Steve Morris (Cabarrus County Commissioner), Rodney Harris (Deputy County Manager), Steve Sciascia (Mayor of Harrisburg), and Haynes Brigman (Harrisburg Town Manager).
