Celebrating Economic Development Week (May 9-13)
Why is economic development essential to our community?
Economic Development Week (May 9-13) takes place every year to help increase awareness about the local programs that create jobs, advance career development opportunities, and improve our communities’ quality of life.
Join us in celebrating #EconDevWeek22 by exploring some of the many programs that promote our local economy, then share them with others who might benefit.
From recruiting high-paying companies and supporting the businesses that already exist here, to establishing local partnerships to advance the careers of our local workforce, there are many ways that economic development benefits Cabarrus County residents and businesses.
Advancing Careers Through Training
Through local partnerships, the North Carolina Manufacturing Institute has established an 8-week program to help students receive the national industry-recognized Certified Production Technician certification as well as the OSHA and Career Readiness Certifications. This allows our local workforce to gain the training and skills they need to fill jobs at companies that pay more and offer benefits.
Supporting the Creation & Growth of Businesses
Did you know that the Cabarrus Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in downtown Concord was established by a partnership between the Cabarrus EDC and Flywheel Coworking? Over the past year, the Cabarrus Center has given out grants to support local startups and has offered numerous events, programs and opportunities to support area entrepreneurs as they launch and grow their small businesses.
Increasing the Quality of Life for Local Residents
We aim to increase the quality of life for Cabarrus County residents through the creation of high-impact jobs and new tax investment. By attracting quality companies to our community, we create new opportunities for our residents and the businesses that already exist here.
Connecting Businesses to the Resources They Need
Cabarrus EDC connects new and existing businesses to the resources they need, when they need them. Do you need training support? Are you looking to export products? Contact the EDC so we can help you reach the resources your business needs.
