Cabarrus EDC to Host Info Session for the Community

January 24, 2023

Economic Development 101 to be offered at the Cabarrus Center on February 22

The Cabarrus Economic Development Corporation will host its first Economic Development 101 information session on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, from 6:30-8:30pm at the Cabarrus Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

The EDC makes a measurable impact on individuals and families through partnerships that support local startups, existing businesses, and the recruitment of new industry to Cabarrus County. This session provides information on exactly how that happens. This event is an opportunity for citizens who live and work in Cabarrus County to learn more about the EDC’s impact and how it affects them.

The EDC has given similar presentations to Concord 101 and Kannapolis 101 participants, as well as to other civic organizations around the county and previous attendees have given positive feedback about the information shared.

“[I learned] how the EDC supports local and startup businesses…through the various grants and classes available to community members interested in starting a business,” said Daryl who attended a Kannapolis 101 event. Another attendee, Jose, echoed this sentiment, “I was not aware of the resources available to help build up and establish both small and large businesses.”

Jamie was most impressed with learning how the economic development process works here locally. “I appreciated the insight we were provided to better understand how the process works…from a request for information (RFI), data requests, and other communications. It’s a full-time job!” she said.

Attending the info session is also a great opportunity to see an impressive renovation in downtown Concord that has become a hub for entrepreneurship and innovation. The Cabarrus EDC was instrumental in bringing Flywheel to our area to operate the Cabarrus Center. The EDC worked with Peter Marsh and the Flywheel Foundation to construct the coworking and meeting room spaces that participants are welcome to tour before the event.

Space is limited to the first 40 people. If you plan to attend, you can register for this free event online or by visiting the Chamber EDC website at www.cabarrusedc.com.
