COVID-19 Stay at Home Proclamation Details

Cabarrus County officials issued a Stay at Home Proclamation effective Thursday, March 26 at 5:00pm. The full proclamation can be found here. I would encourage you to read it in its entirety as it will answer many of the questions that I’m sure are immediately coming to mind. A few highlights:

  • All non-essential business and operations must cease
  • Public and private gatherings of 10 or more people are prohibited
  • An exhaustive list of essential businesses is included in the proclamation
  • Essential businesses that remain open must comply with social distancing requirements
  • Those businesses or citizens who do no comply with the proclamation are guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor

Essential businesses do not need to do anything to be verified as essential. If your business meets the criteria as outlined in the proclamation, you are essential. However, we still do not know what the state will require if an order is enacted at that level, so please continue to provide the information we’ve requested regarding “re-entry” submissions.

While there is currently not a local mandate that essential employees must have documentation, it may be wise to provide a statement on company letterhead for your employees that they are considered essential in the event that they are stopped at some point. (Click here and view "Essential Businesses")

I know that the last few days and weeks have been incredibly challenging and have been filled with a lot of uncertainty. Please continue to use Cabarrus EDC as a resource. We are here to help however we can, both now and in the future.
