A Look Inside the Brand New Advanced Technology Center
Earlier this month, Cabarrus Economic Development joined Rowan-Cabarrus Community College for a tour of their brand new Advanced Technology Center (ATC). Located on nearly three acres of land at the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis, it is the most state-of-the-art facility of its kind in the region.
The 55,000 square-foot facility opened its doors to students last month, with the center now offering a wide range of advanced technology training programs. The center features practical and integrated labs, as well as a ground-floor flex lab to allow industry partners to work through production line challenges.
“The ATC will provide us the ability to fulfill one of our primary missions, which is to close the skills gap in high demand careers and ensure that our region has a skilled talent pipeline of workforce,” says David King, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Business Services.
The ATC is helping employers fill high-skilled technical jobs while keeping their current employees up-to-date on the latest industry standards and equipment. Students are trained using industry-standard equipment, which gives hands-on experience throughout the program. The facility showcases the latest innovative and leading edge technology in all supported programs.
