CABARRUS EDC HONORS NC MANUFACTURING INSTITUTE, CENTRALINA WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT WITH CELEBRATE CABARRUS AWARDS
May 11, 2016 – CONCORD, NC – Cabarrus Economic Development honored the North Carolina Manufacturing Institute and Centralina Workforce Development for their ongoing support of the EDC and business community at the Celebrate Cabarrus awards gala on May 6.
Cabarrus EDC awarded the North Carolina Manufacturing Institute (NCMI) as 2016 Economic Development “Partner of the Year” for its role in assisting in the recruitment of new business and for supporting existing companies that already call Cabarrus home. Craig Lamb, vice president of Corporate and Continuing Education at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, accepted the award on behalf of the NCMI.
The 2016 Economic Development “Supporter of the Year” award was presented to Centralina Workforce Development (CWD) for supporting the EDC’s mission to foster a positive business environment for new and expanding businesses in Cabarrus County, increase the tax base and create employment opportunities. Accepting the award on behalf of CWD were Tracie Brunt, board member, Asia Wilson, communications specialist, and Mark Seifel, business services leader.
“Both the North Carolina Manufacturing Institute and Centralina Workforce Development provide exceptional and ongoing support to the EDC,” said Terry Crawford, interim president and CEO. “As corporate partners, they play an instrumental role in the success of our EDC team and organization and we’re grateful for this opportunity to recognize their efforts.”
The third annual Celebrate Cabarrus awards gala, held at Great Wolf Lodge, was a joint collaboration between Cabarrus Economic Development, Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau and Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce to recognize outstanding individuals and businesses.
