Transportation & Infrastructure

Cabarrus County is in the middle of one of the nation's major transportation centers and distribution hubs. Our completely revamped infrastructure puts you at the crossroads of I-85, with quick access to both Charlotte and Raleigh, and I-485, greater Charlotte’s beltway. I-77, running due north and south, is 20 minutes to the west. The east-west I-40 corridor is only 20 miles north on I-77. Rail access via Norfolk-Southern links you to port cities and major markets. Several distribution centers call Cabarrus County home, taking advantage of being within 24 hours of more than 50 percent of the nation’s population.

Concord Regional & Charlotte Douglas International Airports

Cabarrus County is home to the Concord Regional Airport, where a 7,400-foot runway (large enough for a Boeing 737) plays host to the “NASCAR Air Force”, since so many of its teams and organizations are close by. Quick access has proved attractive to distribution-based enterprises including FedEx SmartPost, Amazon and others. Concord Regional Airport is ranked the fourth busiest airport in North Carolina. The airport sports a contract FAA Tower with full instrument approach.

Allegiant Air provides airline service to major markets in both central and south Florida. Scheduled flights are available to both Orlando Sanford International Airport and St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport. Following on this success, Allegiant Air began offering flights to Ft, Lauderdale International Airport in Spring 2015.

Twenty minutes away is the Charlotte Douglas International Airport, the eighth busiest in the nation with over 600 flight operations per day. It offers 178 direct, non-stop travel destinations including both domestic and international countries such as Germany, England, Mexico and other South American countries.
