CMC- NorthEast is 457-bed, not-for-profit medical center built on a 60-acre campus with a reputation for excellence built on advanced technology, medical staff talent, quality and compassionate care. CMC- NorthEast is the county's largest employers with 4,200 employees serving more than 30 facilities.

CMC Northeast is a Level III Trauma Center staffed with specialists and specially trained emergency personnel who provide care to approximately 85,000 patients a year, 24 hours a day. The hospital is home to six Centers of Excellence: Batte Cancer Center, Cannon Heart Center, Diagnostics and Imaging Center, Emergency Care Center, Hayes Family Center and Surgery Center. The Cabarrus College of Health Sciences is also located on the hospital campus.
In 2007, the hospital joined the Carolinas Healthcare System group and has since widened its scope of providing excellent care in the region.
Solucient, a leading healthcare information company, has named CMC- NorthEast to its 100 Top Hospitals list under the category of "Teaching Hospitals." In addition, Health Grades has rated CMC- NorthEast "Best in the Region" for overall cardiac services, while simultaneously naming the medical center as "Best in the Region" for cardiac surgery during each of the past five years. The American Nurses Credentialing Center has proclaimed CMC- NorthEast as the 58th facility in the U.S. and Europe to officially achieve "Magnet Hospital" status, as award for nursing excellence.
In 2008, the hospital announced plans for $265 million expansion project. The plans would include an eight floor patient tower and a second story for the surgery center. In addition, it would include renovations for two floors in the Mariam Cannon Hayes Center.
