Charlotte Motor Speedway - www.charlottemotorspeedway.com
This is the largest sports facility in the Southeast and recognized as one of the finest NASCAR facilities in the U.S. It is also used for race team testing and automobile manufacturing research. 

Charlotte Motor Speedway hosts three series of NASCAR racing:
Sprint Cup Series: NASCAR Nextel All-Star Challenge, Coca-Cola 600, and NASCAR Banking 500 only from Bank of America; 
Nationwide Series: Carquest Auto Parts 300 and Dollar General 300
Camping World Truck Series: North Carolina Education 200 

The Dirt Track @ Charlotte Motor Speedway
The dirt track in Concord across US 29 from Lowe's Motor Speedway host several special events each year, featuring the world's premier dirt racing series

zMAX Dragway @ Concord -  www.charlottemotorspeedway.com/dragway
Located on 125 acres of Charlotte Motor Speedway property, adjacent to The Dirt Track, this state-of-the-art facility is known as the "Bellagio of Dragstrips" because it is the only one in the world to feature four, all-concreate racing lanes.  zMax begins it's racing season in March and holds two NHRA national events each year.

Concord Motorsports Park -  www.concordmotorsportpark.com  
The park presents a wide range of racing events almost year-round. Friday night is Family Night on the 1/2 mile track with Legend Cars and Go-Karts. On Saturday nights the powerhouse Late Models race at the world's fastest 1/2 mile tri-Oval. In addition to weekly scheduled classes, the Concord Motorsports Park hosts touring series events including the Goody's NASCAR Dash Series, the Slim Jim NASCAR All Pro Series, and the ultra high speed ISMA Super Modified.

Kannapolis Intimidators - kannapolis.intimidators.milb.com 
The Kannapolis Intimidators are a Minor League Single A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. Games played at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium in Kannapolis.  The season starts in April and the Intimidators play about 70 games at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. 

Outdoor Recreation & Parks
The ever-growing public community parks offer a wide range of recreational activities, from tennis to disc golf to paddle-boating and fishing.  There are numerous choices for parks at the county and city levels, including the newly built greenway in Concord.  Get a list of area parks from www.visitcabarrus.com


In the Region

NFL Carolina Panthers - www.panthers.com  
Bank of America Stadium, is a $187 million state-of-the-art facility and is located in downtown Charlotte.  The Panthers season starts in mid to late August and runs through December.  It's a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

NBA The Charlotte Bobcats - www.nba.com/bobcats
The $264 million Time Warner Arena built in the center city Charlotte, supports not only the Bobcats, but also the Charlotte Checkers (ECHL). The arena is also used as a concert venue with large shows such as the Rolling Stones and U2.

The Charlotte Knights - www.charlotteknights.com
The Charlotte Knights are the Chicago White Sox's AAA affiliate, which is one step below major league.
Games are held at Knights Stadium in Fort Mill, SC.

The Charlotte Checkers - www.gocheckers.com
The ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Rangers, they play 36 home games in Time Warner Arena in downtown Charlotte. 

The Quail Hollow Championship - www.quailhollowchampionship.com
Golf lovers are fortunate to have a PGA Tour event played in Charlotte each year during the first week in May.  You can see prestigious players like Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh.

US National Whitewater Center - www.usnwc.org
An outdoor adventure center located along the Catawba River in Gaston County.  It's biggest attraction is the class II-IV whitewater rafting and kayaking on the world's largest man-made recirculating river.  While there you can also experience climbing one of the largest outdoor climbing centers, zip lines, hiking, biking and more.

Carowinds Amusement Park - www.carowinds.com
Carowinds is a 112-acre amusement park located at the North and South Carolina border.  It is home to more than 50 rides, shows and attractions. The park features 12 world-class roller coasters, making it one of the largest coaster collections in the Southeast. Carowinds also includes a 20-acre waterpark playground.


Shopping

Concord Mills, the shopping entertainment destination of the Carolinas and most popular visitor attraction in North Carolina, features over 200 stores including manufacturer and retail outlets and interactive stores like Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, Sun & Ski and Build-A-Bear.

Other popular shopping destinations include Cannon Village with its Colonial-era ambiance, Carolina Mall and Historic Downtown Concord.
